Elden Ring Nightreign is about to hit its one-year anniversary, and FromSoftware is not letting it pass quietly. A new update titled "The Night Is Far From Over" is scheduled for May 30, 2026, exactly one year after the game's original launch.
Server maintenance has already been announced for that date, which strongly suggests new content is dropping alongside it. FromSoftware has not shared full details yet, but the title alone hints that the game is far from done getting support.
For anyone who missed it, Nightreign is a standalone cooperative roguelike spinoff of Elden Ring. It launched on May 30, 2025 across PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The game strips away the open-world exploration of the base game and replaces it with fast, session-based co-op runs against bosses and environmental hazards.
The reception was solid. It is not trying to replace Elden Ring—it is doing its own thing, and for the most part, it works. The loop of dropping in with friends, fighting through randomized encounters, and building up your character across runs scratched an itch that the base game did not try to reach.
FromSoftware has been quietly patching the game since launch. The most recent update, Hotfix 1.03.5, dropped on March 31, 2026. Earlier patches addressed balance issues, connection stability, and some boss encounter tweaks. Nothing massive, but consistent enough to show the game is still being actively maintained.
In a slightly unexpected move, an official Elden Ring Nightreign tabletop RPG is scheduled for release in Japan on June 19, 2026. It is being produced by Group SNE and written by Hironori Kato. No word on a Western release yet, but if there is enough interest, it would not be surprising to see it get localized eventually.
The fact that FromSoftware is teasing new content with a dramatic title like "The Night Is Far From Over" suggests this is more than just a minor patch. Whether that means new bosses, new areas, or an expanded endgame, we will find out on May 30.
