After years of waiting, Rockstar Games has finally locked in the release date for Grand Theft Auto VI. The game is set to launch on November 19, 2026, exclusively on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S at launch.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has expressed confidence that the date is firm this time. There were real concerns about another delay after the original 2025 window slipped, but as of now, everything appears to be on track.
The game takes place in a fictional version of Miami, returning to Vice City after over two decades. Rockstar has confirmed two playable protagonists—Jason and Lucia—in what the studio is calling its most ambitious open world yet. The trailer footage showed a dense, reactive environment filled with social media parodies, wildlife, and an absurd level of detail in everyday interactions.
Beyond the setting, not much has been officially confirmed about the story. Rockstar has kept things deliberately tight, which is typical for them. But what we have seen suggests a tone closer to GTA IV's grounded storytelling mixed with GTA V's scale.
This is the question everyone keeps asking. Rockstar has not announced a third trailer, but speculation is building fast. PlayStation has reportedly started sending wishlist reminders to users, and Game Informer has teased an upcoming cover story. Some fans online have even tried using astrological patterns from previous Rockstar trailer drops to predict a May 14 reveal—which, honestly, sounds a bit desperate, but that is how excited people are.
Realistically, a trailer sometime this month or next would make sense from a marketing perspective. Six months before launch is exactly when studios usually ramp up visibility. But Rockstar does things on its own schedule, so nothing is guaranteed.
This part will frustrate a lot of people, but it is not surprising. Take-Two has made it clear that the console release is the priority right now. Based on how GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 launched, a PC version will likely follow several months later. That is just how Rockstar operates, and there is no sign they are changing the pattern.
